چکیده مقاله
mong the various genres of folk literature, poetry and songs are particularly prevalent. In different regions of Iran and some neighboring countries, there are stories and couplets that are widely known as "Hoseina." Upon encountering the name of these couplets, several questions arise, such as: Who is Hosiena? What type of poetry is this? What are its structural and thematic characteristics? And can it be considered an independent subgenre within the broader category of folk songs?
To answer these questions, existing archival and bibliographic resources were consulted. Approximately seven different accounts of Hoseina and around two hundred couplets that either included the name "Hoseina" or narrated the story of her life were analyzed. It was found that "Hoseina" refers to a character in Iranian folk literature, whose romantic life and her lover's story have been widely circulated among the people in the form of tales and accompanied by couplets.
Furthermore, an investigation into Hoseina's identity revealed that her lover also goes by various names such as Delaram, Delara, Maryam, Shahbanu, and Pari. These verses, composed in the form of couplets, typically carry a romantic and lyrical content. Moreover, due to certain distinctive features that set them apart from other couplets, these poems can be regarded as an independent subgenre within folk songs.
